Seattle and Summer

Well, today we got back from the land of beauty, and my former "home": SEATTLE!  It was a beautiful whirlwind weekend.  Mostly Tim and I had some good talks with friends.  I got to have breakfast with Natalie, one of my closest friends who I don't see often enough.  IT was such a fun way to start off our weekend :)

I cherish my husband.  When he married me, he knew my friends would become his.  And he invests in them.

We moved onto Jenna and Kara's.  I found out my new favorite drink is Scotch with Amaretto on the rocks and that I can handle the new Batman movie with a couple drinks in me.  It was an incredible film, however nerve-wracking the fight scenes were.

Now I'm home.  Tim and I got to cuddle tonight for a bit.  I wish that happened more often.  My nights off work I still can't sleep until the wee hours of the morning.  I'm terrified to try to move to day shift because I have such a hard time falling asleep and 4:15 a.m. comes fast!  But I miss my husband and my sanity.  So I will go for it.  I guess at this point I need to.

I miss my Lord.  I feel so lost trying to do life on my own lately.  Suffering through my insomnia, and loneliness on my own.  Trying to turn on worship music to calm some of my anxieties.

Jesus, you are my Savior, and closest friend.  I give you again all of my life, my heart, my dreams, my every concern.  Heal me and male me whole to serve you rather than turn my focus inward.  Help me to bless and have energy to give and feel whole enough to receive.

I love you, Lord.  Here we go again :)

ESFP

Throughout my short life of 25 years...
well, at least since I've taken the Meyers-Briggs Personality Test, I have always been an ESFJ.

Tonight while laying in bed and trying to fall asleep, I whipped out my phone and looked up the test.

I've been thinking over the past few years my personality has tweaked a bit.  Not tweaked as in I've gone insane (although I would ask you not to inquire about the truth of that statement to my family.  They may have a differing opinion).  I mean that I have maybe "mellowed out" a bit when it comes to loving being "life of the party" and always having to be involved.  I've become more pensive.  More reflective.  And, somewhat of an introvert.... although what I learn from being reflective in my introverted moments I have to immediately tell someone.

That's why they say I am slightly more extroverted than introverted.  Although the percentage has shifted to be more balanced.

I have Tim to thank for the introverted part.  Not because I hate him so much that I want alone time.  More-so because I see the benefits of him having "alone time."

So... here I am.  A slightly different personality.  ESFP.

What's yours?

It's been a NICE weekend :)

This weekend we slept in... After I was up for 36 hours. Yikes!

We had an incredible date at Papa Hyden in Sellwood. It was incredible! I had the Hunter's pasta and Tim had the steak. We shared mouthwatering fondue for an appetizer and blackberry lime tart for dessert :). Then went on a walk in the neighborhood. It was lovely.

Then I used my insomnia to make some yummy Pinterest foods. My goal this summer is to use my crockpot. I made pot roast for the first time. I feel accomplished! And then chocolate filled strawberries and gooey pumpkin butter cake. I'm bringing the treats to work tonight.... In 18 hours. Better get some sleep! Here are some pics!

Berries and some doses of REVIVAL!

Before I forget: I want to write down some details of my day I was "chewing on" (as my former youth pastor would say).

So after my 12 hour night shift, I decided to go to my parents' place.  They live about 45 minutes away from my work without traffic, and I got there in 41 minutes!  Makes me smile :)

Anyway, my purpose of going there instead of sleeping for my usual 3-6 after my last day of work is because I needed to pick a heap load of crap items that I have piled at my Mom's for a lovely shower I threw for my sister-in-law.

So that was my point of going.... initially.  But then I told my Dad the night before I was going to be there early and he said, "I took tomorrow off!  I'll be berry picking."  I beamed and said, "Can I please come?!"  HE of course said "Yes!"
................Let me pause to say I'm crying!!!  Daddy dates mean the most to me.......................

This morning when I called him he was at the berry farm and I said, "Oh no!  I'm still in Vancouver just leaving!  Can you wait for me?"  Sometimes my Dad misplaces plans but sometimes I think he just does what he wants and hopes that the plans still work out :)  He said, "I'll come home and meet you and we can go again."

I got home and he was making blueberry muffins for the women who work at Blueberry Hill.  He does this every year, every week.  We got to the farm and he saw the ladies for the second time.  He handed them his muffins with such a big grin.  They said "Yay!  We missed you last week.  We thought 'The Muffin Man moved!' Thank you for bringing them."

My Dad LOVES serving.  He doesn't say much, but he'll bring out fresh made coffee in church, or make a huge meal just because you said you were stopping by, or buy a thousand copies of Mr. Roger's biography that shows what faith he had and give it to his customers he meets in the midst of their burned down homes (I think to bring some hope and he's hoping they'll find Jesus in the pages), or just making muffins after he picks the berries that very morning for all those farm workers.  It's his heart.  His parents were always serving and his sisters are the same way.  I love seeing how cathartic it is for him to pick berries.

Dad told me the story of how he started making muffins.  He started coming to Blueberry Hill the first week of July at the start of blueberry season when he was diagnosed with Bells Palsy.  Dad's boss told him to take a week off.  He had to wear and eye patch and his smile was particularly crooked because the symptoms are nerve damage.  You look like you've had a stroke.  Dad told me he felt like he looked so strange and he could just come to the berry patch at 6 am when it opened and just pick.  No one would notice him and those that weighed his berries were so kind.  He decided to make muffins for them.  That was when I was 11.  Now I'm 25 (gahhh!).

So I don't have pictures of us picking.  I like my new phone's camera, but decided I wanted to live it rather than document it for others.  It felt SO good just to do that.  Not post, LIVE it :)

So.... I guess I'll write the REVIVAL next week. whoopsies.  LONG post.

I'm just glad to spend some time with my dad.  He has a hard time remembering our plans sometimes, but he always ends up changing his day for me, dropping off NyQuil, berries and a new air conditioner at my doorstep while I sleep the days away.  He is faithful like no one else. Proud to say he's mine :)

And we're off!

I've been under the weather... somehow deleted my last blog in my brain fog and am swimming in thoughts like:
"It's summer I need to take advantage of it!"
"Ew...my shower floors are turning colors.  I wonder if Tim could clean them?"
and..
"Rest up before work.  It's okay to sit on the couch and read or watch netflix or just have another nap. You work all flippin' night and sleep during the sunny hours."

So.  I need to get a bit of a routine.

My routine on the blog will be:

  • Things I'm thankful for experiencing currently or in the past

  • Things I am looking forward to

  • Things I know about God and my relationship with Him
I write this blog mostly for me and also knowing that I will have one reader out there: Ms. Podunk Princess herself!  You can follow her at podunkprincess.wordpress.com  :)  Her name is Katie.  She is a bosom friend.  A kindred spirit.  She gets me.

So here goes!

I'm thankful....
  • that I just cleaned my kitchen
  • the book Bittersweet and what a blessing it's been for me
  • valium while I feel claustrophobic in my own body due to unending amounts of nasal congestion
  • my husband and his many advantages
I'm looking forward to...
  • camping with my girlfriends!!!  We need friend time.
  • seeing Katie next week
  • catching up with Lauren this Sunday
  • camping with Tim for our anniversary
  • paying off our Subaru by October (Lord willing)
  • not being congested.  is tomorrow too soon?
  • going to Family Camp
  • going to a marriage seminar
  • going to San Diego in October
  • going on hikes

I guess I have more going on than I realized.

I believe God is forever guiding me.  Thank you, Jesus.

We're off on another 2 days of work and a stretch off!

See you on the flip side!
